Mush Your Own!

Base Camp Bigfork Dog Sledding

Dog Sledding FAQs

Mush your own! Unlike most dogsledding outfits, Base Camp dogsledding, provides a “hands on” approach allowing you, the participant, the opportunity to drive your own team of our friendly and hard working Inuit Sled Dogs. You can become as involved with the experience as you choose, which also includes harnessing and caring for your team.

Base Camp Bigfork takes pride in sharing the winter landscape of Northwest Montana with others. We are here to enhance your appreciation for winter and the environment in which we travel. Real Deal Dogsledding.

While no previous experience is needed to join in our dogsled adventures, we do rely on participants to be physically active for everyone to enjoy the day. With two people on the sled, one as musher and one as passenger, we can accommodate different levels of ability but both participants need to be active and engaged.

Stop by our rental shop, 8525 Montana Hwy 35, Bigfork, MT 59911 or call to reserve your Kayak Rental: 406-871-9733.

Dog Sledding FAQs

Our trips are best suited for people who find reward in physical challenges. For example: Someone who would enjoy a 4 mile moderate hike should also be able to meet the physical needs of our trips.
Dogsledding is not an appropriate activity for people who have heart conditions or those who are pregnant.
Our trips require participants to be agile getting on and off the sled and the dogs have limitations as to what they are able to pull. Those that are heavier can compansate for that through their own athleticism.
Our trips allow you to be active with your team. All participants get to partake in the harnessing, handling and care of the dogs. If this is something that does not sound wonderful to everyone in your group, this may not be the trip for you.
