They have a fascinating history with their connection to the Inuit people as well as the explorers of the Arctic and Antarctica. They are the last remaining aboriginal dog of the Americas and the only domestic animal of the Arctic. The past 100 years have nearly devastated this breed who once numbered over 20,000. Today, about 500 remain and continue to face the struggles of a modern world. It’s been over 1,000 years that the power and stamina of the Inuit Dog was harnessed. Located 3 miles from the charming village of Bigfork and the shimmering waters of Flathead Lake. This secluded haven is your perfect base for exploring the wonders of Glacier National Park, just shy of an hour drive away. Since this is also the home of our winter dogsled tours, the lodge sides are named after traditional dogsled commands, “Gee” (right) and “Haw” (left). “Gee” side has a queen bed and private bath. “Haw” side has a king size bed on the lower level, bathroom, and a spiral stair leads up to a semi-private loft with two additional full size beds and lounge area. The center of the lodge is a full kitchen and dining space that works great for gathering. Home Our Story Our Story Since 2007, we have been calling Bigfork, Montana and the Flathead Valley our home. Our dream was to start a family business that would allow us the opportunity to share our love of the outdoors with others. Having lived and traveled throughout much of this great country we couldn’t have picked a better places to start this endeavor. We have been offering our hands on dog sled tours since 2009 and opened our paddle shop in town in 2011. A few years later our guest lodging was completed to extend our hospitality. Hosting and sharing insights on how to best explore this unique village that we call home is something we truly enjoy. Today we are thankful to have our sons in the mix and are grateful for their contributions to our family business.
